Machine tools require precise temperature control of hydraulic oil, cutting fluids and other thermal circuits to ensure stability, accuracy and productivity. Sesino heat exchangers for machine tools are engineered exactly for this purpose: maintaining ideal thermal conditions in high‑precision systems, with standard and custom air‑oil and water‑oil solutions optimised for machining centres, lathes, grinders and automated production lines.
Air‑oil heat exchangers for machine tools
In machine tools, hydraulic oil powers axes, clamps, tool changers and other critical functions, generating heat that, if not controlled, can compromise repeatability and accuracy. Sesino air‑oil heat exchangers with AC electric motors are ideal for these stationary applications: the aluminium cooling core and forced ventilation quickly dissipate excess thermal energy, keeping the oil within its optimal range. These units are designed to be integrated inside cabinets or technical compartments of machine tools, with compact dimensions and connections suited to typical hydraulic circuits in the sector. Effective oil cooling helps reduce component wear, stabilise axis behaviour and increase machine uptime.
Thermal control for precision and stability
In many machine tools, temperature control is not only a matter of reliability but directly of precision: thermal variations can cause expansion, drift and loss of accuracy on finished parts. Sesino heat exchangers for machine tools help stabilise the temperature of oil and process fluids, creating the conditions needed to maintain tight tolerances and consistent machining quality. Integrating suitable cooling systems into the machine design reduces the risk of thermal deformation and helps keep the geometry of structures and kinematics stable over time. This is particularly important on high‑speed machining centres, precision grinders and fully automated production lines.
Flexible power supplies and configurations
For machine tools, Sesino mainly offers air‑oil heat exchangers driven by AC motors, compatible with standard industrial power supplies. Depending on requirements, different thermal capacities are available, together with versions featuring integrated by‑pass valves and mounting and hydraulic‑connection options that simplify installation on the machine. Where required by the project, water‑oil heat exchangers or other configurations can also be considered, for example when the machine already has a water circuit that can be used for temperature control. This flexibility makes it possible to build cooling systems that match the layout, performance targets and design philosophy of each machine‑tool manufacturer.
Custom solutions for machine‑tool builders
Every machine tool has specific requirements in terms of oil flow rate, heat to be dissipated, ambient conditions and available space. Sesino works closely with OEMs to correctly size the heat exchanger based on design data, avoiding over‑ or under‑sizing and optimising both efficiency and cost. When standard solutions are not sufficient, the engineering team can develop dedicated executions: customised ports, brackets, provisions for sensors and thermostats, and adapted shapes and dimensions. In this way, the heat exchanger becomes an integral part of the machine’s thermal architecture, contributing to its reliability and competitiveness.
Energy efficiency and plant availability
A well‑designed cooling system helps reduce downtime, performance drops and scrap due to thermal drift. Thanks to their efficiency and robustness, Sesino heat exchangers for machine tools help keep production equipment stable, with lower maintenance costs and higher operational availability. For machine‑tool manufacturers and users, choosing dedicated heat exchangers means investing in productivity, precision and consistent quality over time.
THIS IS AN EPIC
OVER 10O-YEAR-LONG HISTORY
I wrote these words in order to briefly summarize our over 100-yearlong history and share it with my current and past collaborators. While I did not personally experience the oldest parts of the story, from the beginning up to the 1950s, it was related to me orally or in writing by my father, Santo, and by uncle, Alfredo. The history from the late 1960s to the present, however, I have witnessed firsthand.
